Have you ever wondered how our designers and developers can produce outstanding products that have not only elegant design but utility to boot?
Are they night owls staying up until the wee hours of the morning with eyes glued to their screens?
Here’s Rilwis’ story (Meta Box & GretaThemes shop owner)
Read and you will see how the minimal, functional and effective products of Meta Box & GretaThemes are created and have won many users’ heart for many years.
Hi, could you tell us a little about yourself?
My name is Tran Ngoc Tuan Anh (or you can call me Rilwis). I’m a WordPress Developer from Hanoi, Vietnam. I’m currently the owner of Meta Box and GretaThemes Hope you might have heard of those names somewhere.
What are you selling? Why and how did you make it?
WordPress themes and plugins. At first, I develop Meta Box plugin to help WordPress users can create custom meta boxes, then sharing it with the community and getting substantial support. As to WP themes, I want to create simple and easy-to-use WP themes without slaving away tons of my time trying to install and set up. That’s why WP themes on GretaThemes were born.
How do you get new ideas for product development?
Many adorable individuals and groups in the WordPress community have become the great inspiration for me.
It’s gonna a big mistake for not mentioning WooTheme (now known as WooCommere). So far these amazing guys have made huge contributions to WordPress community, for free, including the far well-known and now-familiar WooCommerce, which I think no more word is needed to talk about.
Justin Tadlock is another inspiring story. This man willingly devotes tons of his time and effort to review WordPress themes on wordpress.org. On that basis, things have become easier for users to choose the right ones for their projects instead of wandering around and then feeling perplexed in a bulk of different opinions.
Also, what developers on WordPress Stack Exchange offers to the community can’t be denied. That’s the reason why I can’t help having a deep reverence for them.
Regarding new ideas, I can say most of my ideas come from the real situations when I work with my clients. They have given me a lot of useful suggestions so that I can better improve my own products.
Any tips for designers and developers on selling their stuff?
I would say it is to keep your mind on products, stay focus on products. Designing and developing good and worth-to-use products will end up driving customers to come and return to you.
Which feature would you like to see on Makiplace?
I’d love to see that Makiplace will automatically make a payment on monthly basis. To put it another way, shop owners on Makiplace may create and sell Membership products, which allows users to purchase different items at a particular price and make monthly or annual payment.
What are your favorite resources for design and development?
There are many reliable sources for product and development out there. You can easily find them in the blink of an eye just by a click. I have re-organized the sources by myself at wpdevnews.com. If you are a tech-savvy or a professional, never mind taking a look and see what it can do for you.
With users’ benefits in mind and unstoppable enthusiasm from the heart, Rilwis’ story can be wrapped up in these words: Inspired by the good to do good.
So spend some minutes of yours paying a visit to Meta Box & GretaThemes of this dedicated man and his team. Who knows? You might find your favorite items there, or if not, your presence will become their great motivation to do better.
