The way to remove “Powered by Shopify” text depends on which theme you’re using: sectioned theme or non-sectioned theme. A sectioned theme with modern drag and drop feature helps arrange the page layout in a proper order. For this type of theme, there are two ways to remove “Powered by Shopify” as follows.

1. Edit theme’s language settings

  • From your Shopify admin, go to “Online Store” > “Themes“.
  • Click on the “Actions” button and find “Edit languages“.
  • In the Filter Translations box, search for “Powered“.
  • Add a single space to get rid of faded text in the Powered by Shopify box. Note that these steps are usable for Powered by Shopify HTML box too.
  • Hit “Save” to make change on your theme.

2. Edit footer.liquid

  • First, go to Admin, click “Online Store“. You will easily find Themes and Actions drop-down menu to Edit Code.
  • Choose the Sections blue folder. However, in some cases, the empty Sections folder means that you are using an older version of the theme. Then, you should choose the Snippets instead. The tag shows up in footer.liquid snippet if you are using Classing, Pop Solo Venture or Supply. Otherwise, it can show up in your mini-footer.liquid snippet if you are using React theme.
  • Here is the footer.liquid file.
  • Delete the following tag: {{ powered_by_link | split: ‘” ‘ | join: ‘?ref=etc”>’ }}
  • Click “Save” to make change on your theme.

A Non-sectioned Theme

1. Edit theme’s language settings

  • First, find Shopify Admin and go to Themes. Then, search for Edit languages of your theme.
  • In the Filter translations box, find “Powered”.
  • The same procedure goes for a non-sectioned theme. Therefore, you should type a single space to remove the text.
  • Hit the “Save” button to get things done.

2. Edit theme.liquid

  • Since Shopify Admin plays an important role in managing your online stores in general, you can easily find the Theme you wish to edit in the panel.
  • Click Actions and Edit Code.
  • Find the Layouts folder. Click theme.liquid to open it in the online code editor.
  • Search for {{powered_by_link}} and delete the tag.
  • Click on the “Save” button.

For Mobile Version

A Sectioned Theme

1. Edit theme’s language settings

  • Tap “Store” in the Shopify app.
  • From the Sales channels section, choose “Online Store“.
  • Tap Manage themes, then hit “Actions” and “Edit languages“.
  • Find “powered” in Filter translations box. You should type a single space once you have found the Powered by Shopify box.
  • Tap “Save” to make changes.

2. Edit footer.liquid

  • Find Manage themes as been instructed in the tip 1 and choose “Actions” > “Edit Code“.
  • In the Sections folder, open footer.liquid file.
  • Search for {{powered_by_link}} and delete it.
  • Hit “Save“.

A Non-sectioned Theme

1. Edit theme’s language settings

You can follow the same steps as for the sectioned themes.

2. Edit theme.liquid

  • Find “Store” in your Shopify app.
  • Tap “Online Store” in the Sales channels.
  • Find Manage themes and Edit Code.
  • Choose theme.liquid in the Layouts folder. Delete the tag “{{powered_by_link}}” when you found it.
  • Lastly, tap “Save“.
